Operating principle

The roller grip can be used to grip strip tensile specimens.

The specimen is guided through the slit in the roller. The roller is rotated multiple times. The specimen loops around the roller. The closing force is generated by the specimen's self-gripping. The split roller construction reduces the load between the specimen and the roller surface.

When testing with this specimen grip, the exact strain is often measured via an optical extensometer.

The specimen grip is ideal for grip-sensitive specimens.
